Type kana with your usual keyboard, or select Romaji and type lowercase syllables. Select a letter below to insert its shortcut at the cursor. Nothing is sent to a server.
In kana mode, とぅ・てぃ・くゎ・すぃ become Funatsu letters. In romaji mode use tu ti kwa si tsi; tsu chi shi give ordinary つ・ち・し. Use du di gwa zi dzi for their voiced forms. yi ye produce い゙・え゙.
{'ya}, {'yu}, {'yo}, {'wa}, {'wi}, {'we} and {'n} select the glottal initial forms. Funatsu uses these at the start of a word. Plain ya yu yo wa wi we n remain ordinary kana.
Use ^a ^i ^u ^e ^o ^tsu ^fu ^n to insert the eight raised letters. A raised vowel before a full vowel marks a non-glottal onset: ^uウトゥ (husband) contrasts with ウトゥ (sound). Raised ツ marks the glottal onset in the guide’s specified contexts; raised フ distinguishes /f/ from /ɸ/. Choose these signs according to the variety you are writing.
The guide covers several Ryukyuan languages. This keyboard provides its eight raised signs; it does not infer pronunciation or convert between orthographies.
In romaji mode, n' separates a nasal from the next vowel (kan'i → かんい); double a consonant for small っ, or type xtsu. Use - for ー. Uppercase text and punctuation stay as typed. Check the result before copying.
Ordinary kana and combining dakuten use Unicode; the remaining forms use documented PUA conventions. Raised signs are designed for horizontal text. Download the mappings.
Encoding & reference charts
The palette contains all 27 forms in Funatsu’s chart and all eight raised katakana in the prefectural proposal. Voiced Funatsu forms use a PUA base followed by U+3099. YI and YE use U+3044/U+3048 followed by U+3099. The input tool also converts the older Nishiki-teki PUA equivalents to these sequences.
Funatsu bases follow Nishiki-teki’s U+F450–U+F46A convention (18 selected positions). Raised katakana follow Xim Sans: U+E532–U+E537, U+E4EF and U+E5AA. These assignments are private agreements. Proposal code points are not used; U+1B168 remains SMALL ARCHAIC YE.

GenZui uses its own Noto-based drawings. Toranekoman’s kana fonts, FROkinawaMoji and しま書体 were consulted as implementation references; their glyph outlines are not included.

Noto Serif CJK JP
卄 (twenty), absent from the JP subset above, comes from the same family’s full CJK font with Japanese default forms.
Japanese regional forms
GenZui retains Noto Serif JP’s character repertoire and Japanese forms of shared ideographs. 卄 is added from Noto Serif CJK JP. Other Chinese and Korean coverage is limited to the Japanese base.
Historical letterforms
GenZui supplies historical letterforms and transcription symbols using Noto components and original drawing. Historical katakana use Noto’s Mincho kana strokes and newly drawn connections. Regular is the available weight.
